The GXL6L gas pizza oven is a format variation of the 6-pizza XL gas: 23 kW, 6 pizzas laid out in width on a refractory stone sole, 1470×1180 mm dimensions. Where the classic GXL6 (1100×1540 mm) extends in depth, the GXL6L extends in width — same capacity, same power, but with 360 mm less depth. For kitchens whose cooking wall is long but depth limited (wall run, corridor kitchen, central island), it is the 6-pizza configuration that wins when the GXL6 does not fit.
When to choose the wide format over the deep format?
- Corridor kitchen (width > depth): if your cooking space is aligned against a wall and the kitchen depth does not exceed 1300-1400 mm, the GXL6 (1540 mm deep) does not fit. The GXL6L at 1180 mm deep fits these configurations.
- Wall cooking line with space between equipment: on a 3-4 m wall run, the GXL6L takes 1470 mm of width. If two pieces of equipment must coexist on this run, check the total available width — but if depth is the constraint, it is the only 6-pizza gas option.
- Central cooking island: on an island, depth is generally limited to 1200-1300 mm (accessibility from both sides). The GXL6L (1180 mm) fits this constraint where the GXL6 (1540 mm) would overhang.
- Replacing an old landscape-format oven: some pizzerias were fitted with old wide-format ovens. The GXL6L installs as a replacement with no need to rearrange the kitchen.
GXL6L vs GXL6: same capacity, opposite geometry
| Criterion | GXL6L — 6 piz. in width | GXL6 — 6 piz. in depth |
| Pizza layout | 3 rows in width | 2 rows in depth |
| Chamber | Refractory stone sole | Fully refractory stone |
| Width | 1470 mm | 1100 mm |
| Depth | 1180 mm | 1540 mm |
| Gas power | 23 kW | 23 kW |
| Weight | 125 kg | 125 kg |
| Price excl. VAT | €6,060 | €5,520 |
The GXL6L is €540 more than the GXL6 for the same capacity. This extra cost reflects the wide format's manufacturing complexity and its more specific nature (lower volume than the standard format). If your kitchen allows it, the GXL6 with full stone chamber is the higher-performing, cheaper choice. The GXL6L is the choice when the depth constraint makes it unavoidable.

What pizzaiolos ask
- Is the wide format harder to operate than a deep format?
- Slightly, yes. On a deep oven (GXL6), the pizzaiolo loads pizzas one behind another and can watch all the bakes at a glance. On a wide format (GXL6L), you work across 1470 mm of width, which may require moving sideways to reach the far pizzas on the sides. A pizzaiolo with a suitable pizza peel (long and thin) adapts quickly. It is a point to assess during a hands-on before buying if you have the choice between the two formats.
- Can this oven be paired with a second GXL6L to double capacity?
- Yes, two GXL6L side by side = 12 pizzas at once over 2940 mm wide. It is a configuration used in large pizzerias where the wall width is available. Each oven has its own gas connection and controls. Alternatively, the 2-level model (electric GXL66L) offers 12 pizzas stacked if you prefer to consolidate on a single floor footprint.
- Can the GXL6L be installed with no stand and placed directly on an existing unit?
- Technically yes, provided the unit supports 125 kg of static load over a 1470×1180 mm surface and respects the thermal clearance distances (see the oven's technical documentation). In practice, we recommend a certified oven stand (see our stands range) that guarantees the ergonomic working height, the lower ventilation and compliance with installation standards. A kitchen unit not certified for this use can create insurance or sanitary-approval problems.
