The PFPG9 gas pizza oven belongs to the Smart range: 16.1 kW, 4 pizzas at once on a refractory stone sole, 1000×1062 mm format. At 77 kg, it is the most install-friendly 4-pizza gas oven in the range — where an XL oven of the same capacity weighs 150 kg. For hard-to-access kitchens, upper floors with no goods lift, or spaces where every centimetre of width counts, the Smart range is often the only practical gas option.
For which installation, which kitchen?
- Pizzeria on an upper floor or basement: at 77 kg, two people can move this oven up a standard staircase or a narrow corridor. An XL oven of the same capacity (150 kg) needs a goods lift or lifting equipment. If your premises are on an upper floor, the floor load constraint (generally 150-250 kg/m² in a building) is also more easily met.
- Compact kitchen (available width ≤ 1100 mm): the 1000 mm-wide format (vs 1100 mm for the XL) leaves 100 mm more for other equipment or passage. In some L- or I-shaped kitchen layouts, this difference is decisive.
- Restaurant with a light pizza section (3-5 pizzas on the menu): for a restaurant offering a few pizzas alongside a wider menu, 4 pizzas at once and 40-55 pizzas/hour are amply sufficient. The €4,990 excl. VAT investment is proportional to this complementary role.
- Fast replacement of a faulty oven: the 77 kg weight eases emergency-replacement logistics — out with the old oven and in with the new in half a day, with no specific lifting equipment to hire.
Smart vs XL: two ranges, two installation logics
The choice between Smart and XL is not made on capacity alone — it is also made on installation constraints:
| Criterion | PFPG9 — Smart 4 piz. | GXL4 — XL 4 piz. |
| Gas power | 16.1 kW | 18 kW |
| Chamber | Refractory stone sole | Refractory stone sole |
| Width | 1000 mm | 1100 mm |
| Depth | 1062 mm | 1180 mm |
| Weight | 77 kg | 150 kg |
| Handling | 2 people | Pallet truck / 3+ people |
| Estimated output | 40-55 pizzas/h | 40-60 pizzas/h |
| Price excl. VAT | €4,990 | €4,800 |
If access is easy and the kitchen is on one level, the GXL4 (cheaper, slightly more powerful) is often the rational choice. If the installation is constrained — upper floor, narrow corridor, light slab — the Smart justifies its €190 extra cost with a noticeably simpler installation.

What pizzaiolos ask
- Is the Smart range less capable than the XL range?
- In production capacity, the two are comparable on 4 pizzas: 40 to 55 pizzas/hour for the Smart vs 40 to 60 pizzas/hour for the XL. The power gap (16.1 vs 18 kW) mainly shows as slightly slower heat recovery after door opening in intensive service. For a moderate-volume pizzeria (under 50 pizzas/hour continuous), this difference is imperceptible in practice.
- Why is the Smart 4-pizza more expensive than the XL 4-pizza when it weighs less?
- The Smart uses different materials (lighter design, specific steel) that cost in engineering what they save in weight. Lightness is not synonymous with lower quality — it answers a specific installation need. The €190 extra is marginal compared with the savings on installation logistics if your premises require complex handling.
- Can a 77 kg oven sit on a standard kitchen unit?
- A professional stainless unit (HoReCa category) is generally certified for 200 to 400 kg of static load, amply enough for 77 kg. Check the dynamic load (impact when setting it down) and ensure the unit is fixed to the wall or weighted to prevent tipping. The pizza-oven stands in the catalogue are specifically designed to safely hold this type of equipment.
