The electric 1-level wide toaster is the choice of establishments that toast long breads or formats over 35 cm. Its 520 × 210 mm grille holds a baguette cut lengthwise without cutting it into sections, a 25 cm hot-dog bun, a ciabatta or a long panini — the formats the standard grille (375 mm) cannot toast whole. At €360 excl. VAT, the same price as the 2-level (375 × 200 mm grille), the choice between the two depends on the bread range served: if the menu includes baguette sandwiches or long formats, the wide is the obvious choice.
For which establishment?
- Kebab snack with a baguette sandwich offer: the baguette sandwich is a common offer in fast snacks. Toasting a half-baguette (25–30 cm) in the 520 mm grille avoids cutting it in half before service — one fewer gesture, a cleaner presentation.
- Hot dog and American food: the hot-dog bun (20–22 cm) and the long burger brioche pass in the 520 mm grille. In a hot-dog specialist, the wide toaster is often the only format compatible with the bread range served.
- Sandwich shop or bakery with Italian breads: ciabattas, focaccias and elongated special breads (30–50 cm) need a 520 mm grille to be toasted flat without being divided.
- Breakfast buffet with a bread assortment: if the buffet includes mini-baguettes, long grain breads or elongated breads, the 520 mm grille suits all formats with no prior sorting.
520 × 210 mm grille vs 375 × 200 mm: what the width changes
The 145 mm difference between the two grilles (520 vs 375 mm) is significant in practice:
- 375 mm grille: a standard half-baguette (25–30 cm) just fits — a 35 cm baguette does not pass whole.
- 520 mm grille: a 40–45 cm half-baguette passes whole; a 22 cm hot-dog bun with room to spare; a 45 cm rectangular focaccia.
- Grille surface: 375 × 200 = 750 cm² vs 520 × 210 = 1,092 cm² — 45% more surface on the wide version.
For establishments whose main bread format is ≤ 35 cm (sandwich loaf, bagel, classic burger bun), the 375 mm grille of the compact model is enough and costs €60 less. For formats ≥ 35 cm, the 520 mm grille of the wide is the only option with no extra cutting.
Adjustable thermostat and stainless build
The wide toaster has an adjustable thermostat — unlike the timer of the compact model, the thermostat adjusts the heating power to hold a target temperature rather than a fixed time. Concrete advantages:
- Consistent result from one batch to the next, whatever the kitchen's ambient temperature.
- Differentiated setting by bread type: thin sandwich loaf (low temperature), dense ciabatta (higher temperature).
- Less monitoring: the thermostat holds the plate at temperature with no overheating.
The stainless-steel structure withstands professional degreasers and kitchen humidity. The 15.8 kg weight (lighter than the 25 kg compact) makes moving or repositioning on the worktop easier.

The central question at this price (€360): does bread format or pace take priority? Menu with long breads → take the wide. Menu with short breads but high throughput → take the 2-level.
What restaurateurs ask
- Can a whole baguette be toasted in this model?
- No. A whole baguette is 55 to 65 cm — the 1-level wide toaster has a 520 mm grille. You must cut the baguette in half (25–30 cm each) to fit it. The wide toaster lets you toast a whole half-baguette without cutting it into sections — already an advantage over the standard model (375 mm) which requires cutting the baguette into 3 or more. For establishments serving whole uncut baguettes in the kitchen, a conveyor toaster (€1,560–1,680 excl. VAT) is the only solution that accepts them with no prior cutting.
- What is the difference between this model's thermostat and the €300 compact's timer?
- The timer sets the cooking time independently of the plate's real temperature — if the plate is cold at start-up, the first 2 minutes give a less toasted result than the following ones. The thermostat holds the plate at a target temperature by modulating power — the result is more consistent from one batch to the next, whatever the starting temperature. In intensive service with fast successions, the thermostat produces a more even result. In occasional use with cooling between batches, the difference is less noticeable.
- Is this toaster suited to hot-dog buns and long burger buns?
- Yes. A standard hot-dog bun is 20 to 22 cm — it fits easily in the 520 mm grille. A long brioche bun for an XXL burger (15–18 cm) passes easily. The 210 mm depth is enough for 15 to 18 cm wide breads. The 520 × 210 mm grille is particularly suited to special fast-food formats (long smash burger, American-format hot dog) that the 375 × 200 mm grille cannot hold whole.
- Can this toaster be stacked with other equipment on top?
- Yes, provided the appliance's ventilation is respected. The toaster's stainless structure can support light equipment placed on top (a service coffee maker, a cutlery dispenser). However, never place heat-producing equipment above the toaster — rising heat creates a hot-spot that can damage the upper equipment and reduce the toaster element life. The toaster's side and back must be at least 10 cm from any surface for ventilation.
