The BTC50 is the high-power version of the Access range: 5 kW on single-phase 230V, a large 460×560 mm surface, designed for users who need to heat large volumes quickly without moving to a three-phase installation. 20-litre pots, wide woks, large pans, catering pots: the BTC50 handles the imposing formats the 330 mm BTC35 does not fully cover.
For which establishment, for which need?
- Cafeteria and catering: producing soups, stews and sauces in large quantities. The 460×560 mm surface accepts the large pots used in catering. 5 kW on 230V avoids the need for a three-phase circuit.
- High-volume caterer: cooking large quantities ahead of delivery or service. The BTC50 installs on any worktop with a standard socket, including in rented or event premises.
- Restaurant with occasional induction service: complementing gas equipment for cooking delicate sauces (béchamel, reductions) where induction temperature control is superior to a gas flame.
- Asian kitchen with a large wok: for 32 to 36 cm woks that exceed the effective zone of a standard hob. The 460×560 mm surface covers these wide formats. (For intensive wok use with a flame, see the Diamante 70 gas posts.)
The BTC50 stays in the Access range — designed for occasional to regular use, not a continuous 8 h/day service. For a permanent induction post in a brigade, the Intense range is recommended.

Choose the BTC50 if: you regularly use pots or woks over 30 cm diameter, or need the fastest possible heat-up without three-phase. Stay on the BTC35 if: your standard containers are 20-28 cm pans or pots and worktop space is tight.
What restaurateurs ask
- 5 kW on single-phase 230V — is that really possible for an induction hob?
- Yes. The BTC50 runs on standard 230V but draws about 22 A at full power. Check your circuit has a breaker of at least 25 A on that supply. Modern commercial installations allow it with no change; older premises may need a prior electrical check.
- Can a large Asian wok be used on this hob?
- For induction-compatible flat-bottomed woks of 30 to 36 cm, yes. The 460×560 mm surface covers these formats well. However, a 14 kW gas burner remains superior for the wok hei technique (side flame on the wok walls) if that is an important criterion for your kitchen.
- Can this hob heat a 30-litre pot for catering?
- It can heat a 30-litre pot, but the pot base must be induction-compatible (magnetic stainless steel or cast iron), and the rise to boiling will be longer than a high-power gas burner. For very large or very frequent production, a gas solution or a high-power electric range will perform better.
- Does the 1-year guarantee cover wear from intensive catering use?
- The manufacturer guarantee covers manufacturing defects, not normal wear from use. For intensive continuous use (lunch and dinner service, 7 days a week), the Intense range (PIS30/PID30) is designed for this cycle and offers superior long-term reliability versus the Access range.
