The MFF under-counter single-bowl stainless steel sink with dishwasher feed-through, left-hand drainer, and integrated storage cupboard (depth 700 mm) is the most complete dishwashing station format in the MFF under-counter range. It provides a compact pre-rinse bowl for efficient pre-washing before the machine cycle, the left-hand drainer receives clean crockery from the dishwasher, and the enclosed steel cupboard stores cleaning supplies beneath the station. At €1031 excl. VAT, this unit eliminates the need for separate storage beside or below the washing station.

Under-counter sink vs wall-mounted sink — which to choose?

The fundamental difference between an under-counter (sur placard) and a wall-mounted (murale) stainless steel sink is what happens below the bowl level. A wall-mounted sink leaves the floor area beneath free — easy to clean, but no storage. An under-counter model has a closed steel cupboard beneath the bowl, providing useful storage space at the cost of floor accessibility under the unit.

Under-counter models are the preferred choice in kitchens where storage space is at a premium: small commercial kitchens, service counters, and prep stations where cleaning products, small equipment, and consumables need to be close to hand. For kitchens where the area beneath the sink is cleaned regularly as part of kitchen hygiene protocols, wall-mounted models remain the standard choice.

AISI 304 stainless steel — construction and hygiene

Both the sink bowl and the cupboard body are fabricated from AISI 304 food-grade stainless steel. This is the same grade used in professional cookware, work surfaces and refrigeration equipment — chosen for its resistance to corrosion, its smooth non-porous surface, and its compliance with food hygiene regulations (EC Regulation 852/2004).

The cupboard is fully enclosed with a swinging or sliding door (depending on model), keeping stored items dust-free and protected from water splashes from the sink above. The door hinge and latch are stainless steel — no painted or chrome components that could corrode in the damp environment beneath a sink.

HACCP compliance at the under-counter washing station

HACCP requirements for washing stations apply equally to under-counter and wall-mounted formats. The critical requirements are:

Single-bowl under-counter models are suitable for dedicated prep sinks, rinsing stations, and secondary wash points. The cupboard is independent of the bowl — its contents are not exposed to water from the sink bowl.

The integrated rear splashback prevents water from reaching the wall behind the sink — an area that is difficult to clean if not protected, and a common source of mould and bacterial accumulation. The splashback is an integral part of the sink's HACCP-compliant design.

The left-hand drainer integrates air-drying into the unit, completing the wash-and-dry cycle without requiring a separate surface. As with all drainer-equipped sinks, choose the drainer position to match your kitchen's workflow direction.

Installation and workspace

Under-counter sinks are free-standing units that do not require wall fixings for the cupboard — only the plumbing connections (water supply and drain waste) need to be made during installation. This makes under-counter sinks easier to reposition or replace than wall-mounted units, which require wall anchor points.

Standard installation height places the basin rim at approximately 900 mm from the floor. The under-counter cupboard typically provides approximately 600–700 mm of internal clear height, suitable for storing cleaning product bottles, spray bottles, small buckets, and similar items. The drain outlet uses a standard 3½" (89 mm) waste fitting compatible with all commercial and domestic plumbing waste systems.

Who is this sink for?

  • Small commercial kitchens and cafés: The under-counter cupboard provides dedicated storage for the washing station, keeping cleaning products organised and off the main worktops.
  • Service counters and bar areas: The unit fits under a continuous worktop to form a seamless preparation and service surface, with the washing and storage functions hidden beneath.
  • Fast-food and snack outlets: Compact under-counter units occupy less visual space than wall-mounted sinks while providing equivalent washing capacity plus the bonus of integrated storage.
  • Secondary wash stations: In larger kitchens, a secondary under-counter wash point in the prep area or at a service station reduces traffic at the main plonge during peak service.
